Elderly and Infirm denied treatment in Britain’s National Health-care Program

Sarah Palin was roundly dismissed as an alarmist for raising the specter of government bureaucrats convening  “Death Panels” to decide who lives and who dies in a nationalized health-care system.   Barack Obama insists that health-care will not be rationed if the United States adopts his plan for a nationalized health-care system.

A report in the Wall Street Journal on the British National Health-care program confirms Palin’s concerns about end of life care and  disproves Obama’s contention that care is not rationed:

The real justification for socialized medicine is left unstated: Because health-care resources are assumed to be fixed, those resources should be prioritized for those who can benefit most from medical treatment…elderly have fewer years left to them; why then should they get health-care resources that would benefit a younger person more?
