Nesbitt solicits lobbyists during Legislative Session
The N&O reports Senate Democrat Leader Martin Nesbitt shamelessly admitted to soliciting campaign “support” at an event attended by lobbyists last week. It is illegal to solicit contributions from lobbyists during the legislative session. Nesbitt evidently thought this disclaimer would take care of any problems:
Nesbitt said he was careful about any money pitch. “I told ‘em, for those of you in the room who might be lobbyists, if I mention anything about money or anything like that then close your eyes and hold your ears. I am not talking to you.” Click here to read the rest of the story on the N&O website.
This isn’t Nesbitt’s first questionable fundraising activity, last month Nesbitt had the president of the taxpayer funded Advantage West economic development group soliciting campaign cash on his behalf.
