Polling Shows Republicans with Momentum

Recent polls from the Civitas Institute have encouraging news for Republican Senate candidates and show conservatives with momentum in the fight to take back the State Senate!

Civitas Poll: Republicans Open Wide Lead on Generic Ballot Among Most Likely Voters

North Carolina voters who are definitely voting in the 2010 elections overwhelmingly support Republican candidates according to the April poll results released by the Civitas Institute.

According to the live caller poll of 600 likely voters, respondents were asked if the election were held today, would they be voting for the Republican or Democratic candidate for state Legislature.  Among all respondents, regardless of their likelihood to vote, Democrats were favored over Republicans by a 38-37 percent margin.  Five percent of voters said neither party, while 20 percent said they were unsure.

However, when focusing among voters who say they are definitely voting in the upcoming 2010 elections for state Legislature, Republicans take a commanding 41-33 lead over Democrats. …

Civitas Flash Poll: Harrington leads 2:1 in Race to Replace Retiring Democrat

Republican candidate Kathy Harrington leads 2:1 over Democratic opponent Annette Carter in the race for North Carolina’s 43rd state Senate District according to a new SurveyUSA poll released today by the Civitas Institute.

According to the poll of 350 registered voters in that district, 56 percent said that if the election for state senator were held today they would vote for Republican Kathy Harrington who is campaigning to replace retiring Democratic Sen. David Hoyle.  Twenty-eight percent said they would vote for Carter, and 16 percent said they were undecided.

Unity among the Republican Party appears to be a significant factor in Harrington’s lead as 86 percent of Republicans said they will vote for her.  Unaffiliated voters are supporting Harrington by a 43-24 margin. …

Civitas Flash Poll: Virtual Tie in Race for State Senate District 50 Seat

In the election for North Carolina’s 50th Senate District seat, Democratic incumbent John Snow and Republican challenger Jim Davis are virtually tied according to a new SurveyUSA poll released today by the Civitas Institute.

According to the poll of 350 registered voters, 44 percent said that if the election for state senator were held today they would vote for Davis.  Forty-three percent said they would vote for Snow, and 13 percent said they were undecided. …

Civitas Flash Poll: Dead Heat in North Carolina 45th Senate District Race

In the election for North Carolina’s 45th Senate District seat, Democratic incumbent Steve Goss and Republican challenger Dan Soucek are virtually tied according to a new SurveyUSA poll released today by the Civitas Institute.

According to the poll of 350 registered voters, 43 percent said that if the election for state senator were held today they would vote for Goss.  Forty-one percent said they would vote for Soucek, and 17 percent said they were undecided. …
