Wilmington DA confirms Federal Investigation into Perdue, Basnight, Easley Donations

Rusty Carter, who was convicted last week of illegal campaign contributions, may now face more charges from a federal investigation. Carter, a Wilmington businessman, funneled campaign donations to various high-ranking Democratic politicians through his employees.
WWAY TV3 reports, “Because Carter was such a generous donor to the governor, one of the items the feds may be investigating is if there was a pay to play expectation in the governor’s inner circle.”
