With record high unemployment and some of the highest tax rates in the southeast, we must stop the tax-and-spend cycle of the past and reform our economy in a way that encourages investment, fosters growth, and eliminates wasteful government spending.
Free Market Solutions to Secure North Carolina’s Future:
- Create jobs by eliminating the corporate income tax and cutting $1 billion in wasteful spending.
- Control future spending by passing a Taxpayer Bill of Rights that will limit spending to the rate of population growth and inflation — as well as prioritizing needs and cutting waste.
- Reduce health care costs by eliminating all coverage mandates, allowing purchase across state lines, reducing the Medicaid role by raising eligibility requirements, converting Medicaid dollars to subsidize private care, and passing meaningful tort reform including waiver of liability and capping jury awards for pain and suffering.
- Improve energy independence by repealing the new renewable energy requirement on utility companies, lobbying Congress for permission to drill off our coast, allowing in-state natural gas exploration and drilling, and reducing obstacles for construction of coal and nuclear power plants.
