Warren Daniel, Candidate for NC Senate District 44, In His Own Words

“My name is Warren Daniel. I’m running for the North Carolina Senate, District 44, Caldwell and Burke counties.

“Over the past year, I’ve become increasingly alarmed about the direction politicians in Washington and Raleigh are leading our country and our state. They are out of touch with the American people: constantly expanding the size of government, adding new regulations, and increasing the tax burden on all of us.

“If we are going to get North Carolina back on track, we must have more accountability in our state government. One of the favorite expressions of my late grandfather, a North Carolina tobacco farmer, was, ‘You can’t be a little bit honest!’ I think this simple phrase explains how we as a nation have gotten off track: We have elected too many politicians who are just that, ‘a little bit honest.’

“I believe we have a moral duty to the next generation to turn over a nation and a state in sound financial condition. But today, our federal government is controlled by a party that believes that deficits do not matter. North Carolina is run by career politicians who mismanage our state’s resources and raise taxes year after year. This cycle of tax-and-spend is not sustainable. And it must be stopped. We cannot continue sacrificing the future of our children and grandchildren by mortgaging tomorrow to pay for today.

“As your state senator, I will work hard to eliminate waste in government, lower taxes, and reduce unnecessary regulations that discourage economic development and cost us jobs.”

“In 1787, our Founding Fathers gave us a Constitution that forever changed the relationship between man and government. They believed that each of us is born into freedom and that the proper role of government is to protect and secure the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, which are endowed by our Creator, not derived from the government. Protected by these Constitutional guarantees, America became the land of opportunity for millions of legal immigrants who came fleeing oppression and seeking the American dream.

“With the recent passage of Obamacare, it is more evident than ever that ‘We The People’ need to act — now — if we are going to make a difference. I pledge to you that, as your state senator, I will strive to return North Carolina to the principles of limited government and unlimited opportunity. I hope you’ll join me. Together we can bring conservative government back to North Carolina, and preserve the American Dream for our children and grandchildren.”
