Perdue in Campaign Mode as Republicans Work to Clean Up Her Mess

Perdue Attempts to Distract North Carolinians from Her Abysmal Record on Jobs by Taking Potshots at the Republican Legislature

Bev Perdue thinks you’re stupid.

That’s the only rational explanation for her decision to hold a press conference this morning to hurl insults at NC Senate and House Republicans for their jobs agenda.

Perdue must believe North Carolinians have forgotten her atrocious record on jobs:

• On Gov. Perdue’s watch, North Carolina’s unemployment rate has remained above 9.4 percent for 26 straight months.
• The state’s current unemployment rate, 10.1 percent, is one of the worst in the country.
• 112,699 more North Carolinians are out of work today than when Bev Perdue took office.

Republican legislators, led by Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger, are working hard to clean up the mess Bev Perdue left for them.

In just two months, Senate Republicans have done more to empower private sector job creation than Perdue has done in two years:

• Spending cuts to right-size state government and take less money out of the private economy (vetoed by Gov. Perdue)
• The Protect Health Care Freedom Act, stopping the biggest job-killer in the United States today, Obamacare (vetoed by Gov. Perdue)
• Regulatory reform, preventing government agencies from adopting new regulations that stifle small businesses
• Medical malpractice reform, attracting top doctors, bringing in new jobs and making health care more affordable and accessible for all North Carolinians.

While Republicans put North Carolina’s economy back together and empower private sector businesses to do what they do best, create jobs, Bev Perdue is kicking off her reelection campaign.

That’s right. Bev Perdue is throwing a $4,000-per-person fundraiser in Winston-Salem to raise money for her campaign while Republicans clean up her mess in Raleigh.

It’s no coincidence that the setting for Gov. Perdue’s “jobs lecture” is a government building. She thinks more government is the answer. Republicans understand that government is the problem — Bev Perdue in particular.
